Kerala University Distance Education Admission 2026: Admission to various distance courses at CDOE, School of Distance Education of Kerala University, will begin soon for the academic session 2026. Registrations will be open for both UG and PG programs in distance learning mode. Currently, Kerala University Distance Education provides only 4 programs, such as B.Lib.I.Sc., M.Lib.I.Sc, MSc. About Kerala University Distance Education
Kerala university was started in 1937, and is the first university in the state. It is re-accredited by NAAC with an A++ grade. Currently it is affiliated to 223 colleges, and has 32 university study centers, 41 teaching and Research Departments, 10 schools and 17 Institutes of Technology.
University of Kerala established its school of distance education in 1976. SDE is located in Kariavattom Campus, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. It offers 1 undergraduate program and 3 postgraduate degree courses in ODL mode under the approval of UGC-DEB. The medium of instruction is English for all courses except for language courses.
Kerala University Distance Education Admission 2026-27
Students applying to Kerala University have to register online on the www.ideku.net or www.sde.keralauniversity.ac.in website. Admission process for Kerala University distance ducation form session 2026-27 is likely to open from 05 April to 30 April 2026. At the UG level, admission is open for only B.Lib.I.Sc program and at PG level, MSc in Computer Science, Mathematics and M.Lib.I.Sc. All these courses are approved by the UGC-DEB and are available in English medium. The duration for B.Lib.I.Sc & M.Lib.I.Sc program is 1 year (divided into 2 semester and for MSc course, it is 2 years with 4 semesters.
A valid DEB ID and ABC ID is mandatory for admission to ODL programs. Students have to submit a hard copy of the application form to The Director, School of Distance Education, University of Kerala, Kariavattom Campus, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 581 by the registered post. Admission will be granted to only those students who have relevant qualifications and documents as prescribed by the university. Also, students can pursue 2 academic programs simultaneously as per UGC notification. All admission will be considered provisional till the original documents are verified.

Kerala University Distance Education UG Admission 2026
Admissions to UG courses at CODE of Kerala University will commence soon for the 2026 session. At present, the university is offering only B.Lib.I.Sc. in distance learning mode. This program is available for the duration of 1 year with 2 semesters at the UG level. Bachelor of library and information science (B.Lib.I.Sc.) focus on the Management of Libraries, Organizing Physical & Digital Resources, Cataloging and Archiving Information. To be eligible, students must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum 40% mark from kerala university or any other university.
English will be the only medium used for instruction. Students have to pay a total course fee ranging from INR 7300/- to INR 7720/-, depending on the categories. The application fee for the UG program is INR 105/– only.
Kerala University Distance Education PG Admission 2026
CDOE, School of Distance Education of Kerala University offers admission to PG courses like M.Sc. Mathematics, M. Sc. Computer science and M.lib.I.Sc in ODL mode. MSc courses are offered for the course period of 2 years with 4 semesters and Master of Library and Information Science is available for 1 year with 2 semesters. Students can apply only by paying an admission fee of INR 160/- via payment mode given by the university.
To become eligible, students must have a bachelor’s degree course in any related discipline from Kerala University or any other university. Applicants must have secured at least 50% mark (45% for SC/ST category) and not less in the qualifying examination. The course fee is around INR 9775/- to INR 14190/- for the entire duration.
Kerala University Distance Education Eligibility Criteria
Admission will be given to the students only if they meet with the following eligibility criteria:
- Undergraduate Degree Course: For B.Lib.I.Sc. program, applicants must have a 3 year bachelor’s degree with minimum 40% mark from Kerala University or equivalent.
- Postgraduate Degree Course: Students must have a bachelor’s degree in related field with minimum 50% mark (45% for reserved category) from kerala university or any other university.
- Language: It is mandatory for Students to have proficiency in English.
- Age Limit: There is no upper or lower age limit to any UG/PG program at CDOE of Kerala University.
- Entrance Exam: There is no entrance exam for any program, so admission is solely based on merits.
Admission Process of Kerala University Distance Education
Before initiating the online registration process of Kerala University for desired distance courses, students must read the instruction carefully. Step 4: Login using your application number and password.

Kerala University Distance Education Fee Structure
Students have to pay the course fee online at www.ideku.net through the payment portal of the school of distance education. Also, fees can be remitted through pay-in-slip at the Cash Counters at the University Office or through online cash transfer or via Kerala University ePayment portal. Fees can be paid through demand draft from any SBI bank in favour of university of kerala.

Kerala University Distance Education: Study Material
The study material of CDOE, SDE of Kerala University is prepared by the subject experts and teachers. The material will be dispatched to the students through post or by hand. Students will get their study material in installment during each academic year. Kerala university distance education SLM fee is INR 250/- for UG program and INR 300/- per course for PG program. The total fee will range around INR 1050/- to INR 1575/-. However, if the number of students enrolled is less than 25 in a program, then the study material and personal contact classes will not be provided by the university.
