About Panjab University Distance Education
The center of distance and online education of Panjab University was established as a directorate of correspondence courses in 1971. It offers 29 UGC-DEB and AICTE approved courses at UG, PG, Diploma and certificate level. University provides dual degree provision, where students can pursue 2 academic programs in regular and ODL mode simultaneously. The methods of instruction include self learning mode, PCP, individual counselling, audio and video content, etc. university provided student services like library, Laboratories, a Computer Lab, postal library facilities, an Educational Media Centre, and hostel facilities.
Panjab University Distance Education Admission 2026
The Center of Distance and Online Education (CDOE) of Panjab University admission process for the academic 2026 session will start soon from the first week of April 2026*. Students can apply for UGC-DEB courses like BA, BCOM, BLIS at UG level and MBA, MCOM, MA, etc at PG level. The university will hold an entrance exam for the MBA program, which will be conducted by CET. However, selection for other courses will be based on student performance in the previous qualifying examination.
Registration is open to new applicants, students deciding to pursue 2 degree courses simultaneously, gap year students, continuing and students appearing for compartment, etc. While filling the admission cum examination form, students have to mention their preferred examination center. Admission to UG courses like BA, BCOM (H) and BLIS at Punjab University, CDOE will begin soon for the current 2026 session. All the mentioned programs are available in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode for the course period of 3 years with 6 semesters. Except for BCOM (H), which is offered for the duration of 4 years with 8 semesters.
To become eligible, applicants must have completed and passed their higher secondary education examination with a minimum 50% mark (45% for SC/ST category) in any discipline from a recognised board. There will be no entrance exam for any UG degree courses so selection is purely merit based. The main medium of instruction will be English only, except for language courses. Panjab University charges UG course fees ranging from INR 13,700/- to INR 14,790/- per semester (subject to change).
Panjab University Distance Education PG Admission
The centre of distance and online education of Panjab University offers numerous PG programs like MBA, MCOM, MA with 9 disciplines, in ODL mode. The course length of the PG degree program is 2 years, divided into 4 semesters. To become eligible, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in any related field with not less than 45% to 50% mark from a recognised university. However, the CDOE of Panjab University requires an entrance test for the MBA program, which is conducted by CET.
The medium of examination and study material will be either Hindi, English or Punjabi. The program fee for PG degree courses will vary from INR 16,095/- to INR 38,942/-, payable semester wise. There is no upper age limit for any courses, so individuals with basic eligibility can apply for admission.
Panjab University Distance Education Eligibility Criteria

- For UG Programmes: Applicants have to pass their 10+2 examination or equivalent in any stream with atelast 50% mark (45% for reserved category) from a recognised educational board.

Panjab University Distance Education Admission Process
Before initiating the online registration process, students have to read all the admission related guidelines and check the eligibility criteria for the desired course. Submission of the admission form will undergo the filing process:
Step 1: Create DEB ID and ABC ID using your Email, Phone Number and Aadhaar Number.
Step 2: go to https://cdoeadmissions.puexam.in/ and insert DEB ID.
Step 3: select the program, fill Admission-cum Examination Form and submit.
Step 4: login with ID and password again and pay fee online or through Challan in the Post Office.
Step 5: Next, upload scanned documents and signatures.
Step 6: Now take a printout of the admission cum examination form.
Step 7: Visit the university CDOE, office with original documents and self-attested supporting documents for verification purposes.
