Gandhigram University Distance Education Courses: Registrations to Gandhigram Rural Institute will commence soon for all the distance courses for the academic session 2026. Admission will open for many UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate and PhD programs. Students can register themselves by filling the admission form and paying an application fee ranging between INR 300/- to INR 800/-. Gandhigram University Distance Education course admission 2026 last date will be 30 April 2026.

To be eligible for admission, students must hold a 10+2 qualification with a minimum 45% mark for UG program and a bachelor’s degree with 55% mark for PG program. Selection of the applicants will be based on merits performance in the previous qualifying examination, counseling, entrance test conducted by the university and CUET 2026, depending on the course requirements. GRI charges courses total fee varying from INR 17,470/- to INR 1,16,410/-. Applicants are advised to read the instructions carefully before visiting the online registration process.

About University: Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI) was established in 1956. It is accredited by NAAC with an A++ grade. GRI attained the status of deemed to be university in 1976 and is governed by the ministry of education, government of India, New Delhi. It is fully funded by the UGC and offers courses in hindi, malayalam and french for UG programs. It offers outcome based education under choice based credit system (CBCS). GRI offers academic programs through its 8 schools, comprising 19 departments and 11 centres. Programs are available at UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate, and doctoral level.

Note: As per UGC Guidelines, Gandhigram Rural Institute does not have approval of offering UG, PG or diploma courses in distance learning mode for the current academic year 2026. 

Gandhigram University Distance Education Course Admission 2026 

Students can access online application forms online from the GRI registration portal. Students applying for any UG or PG program have to pay a CUET 2026 processing fee of INR 300/- and INR 800/- for Non-CUET. Students belonging to SC/ST category can apply for any one program without payment of application fee, given that they produce relevant supporting documents. If there is availability of seats after filling through CUET, the institute will fill up the seats on the basis of +2 marks and reservation policy of Govt. of India

Students have to submit separate online application forms for PG Diploma, Diploma and B.VOC. Students are advised to read the prospectus, check eligibility criteria and use their own email ID and Phone number for registration. Also once the application form is submitted no changes will be allowed, so students must be very careful while entering their details.

Gandhigram Rural Institute offers 26 UG, 24 PG, 27 PhD, 2 Post Doctoral (D.Sc. / D.Litt.), 6 PG Diploma, 6 Diploma and 1 Certificate course. GRI Distance Education UG Course Admission 

Gandhighram Rural Institute offers admission to UG courses like BA, BCOM, BBA, B.VOC, B.Tech, B.Ed, and B.Sc.B.Ed (4 Year). All these courses are offered under choice based credit system (CBCS). Students can pursue degree courses for 3 years with 6 semesters and honour courses for 4 years with 8 semesters. To be eligible students have to pass their higher secondary examination (10+2) in any stream with a minimum 45% mark (40% for reserved category) from a recognised board.

Selection will be based on the CUET UG scores and through counseling based on marks secured in higher secondary or equivalent. The program fee is around INR 42,560/- to INR 1,16,410/-. The upper age limit for bachelor degree courses is 21 years old

Gandhigram University Distance Education PG Admission 

GRI distance education provides admission to various disciplines of PG degree courses like MA, MSc, MCA, MBA, M.Tech, M.Ed, etc. All the Master degree courses are available for the course length of 2 years, divided into 4 semesters. To become eligible for admission to PG courses, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 55% mark (50% for SC/ST category) from a  UGC approved university.

Selection of the applicants will be solely based on the merit scores of CUET PG 2026 entrance common entrance exam, conducted by the NTA. GRI charges a student total course fee ranging from INR 29,190/- to INR 94,990/-. There is no upper age limit for any PG admission.

Gandhigram University Distance Education Eligibility Criteria 

To get admission to any UG, PG, Diploma, and Certificate courses, students must meet with the following eligibility criteria: 

  • For UG Program: Complete and pass 10+2 or equivalent examination with 45% mark (40% for reserved category) in any stream from an approved board. 
  • For PG Program: Pass in any UG degree courses examination and score at least 50% to  55% mark in any discipline from a recognized university or institution.
  • For Diploma Purses: Applicants have to pass Higher Secondary (10+2) examinations with any subjects with minimum 50% marks required for some courses.  
  • For PG Diploma: Pass in any UG degree courses form UGC recognized university or institution. An entrance test will be conducted for some PG Diploma courses. 
  • For Certificate Course: 10th Pass or its equivalent including NIOS.
  • Age limit: 21 years for UG and Diploma Programmes (24 years for SC/STs), 25 years for PG Diploma, 35 years for Skill based B.Voc, D.Voc.and Diploma programmes and no age limit for other programs.

Students applying for any program at GRI distance education need to read instructions related to the admissions and eligibility laid out for each course. No change in date of birth, email address and phone number will be entertained, once the form is submitted. Interested students can follow the steps given below for successful registration process:

Step 1: Visit the GRI official portal

Step 2: Read the prospectus and instructions carefully.

Step 3: Register with your DOB, email ID and phone number. 

Step 4: Generate a username and a strong password. 

Step 5: Login with the credentials and fill the admission form.

Step 6: Upload all the scan documents, signature and photograph.

Step 7: Pay online application fee of INR 300/- to INR 800/- through Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking.

Step 8: Submit the application form before the due date. 

Step 9: Check your application status on the university website by using your login ID.

Gandhigram University Distance Education Fees

The fee structure of degree and Honours courses will vary according to course duration. Students have to pay semester-wise fees ranging between INR 42,190/- to INR 1,16,410/-

for the chosen programs. Apart from course fee, students have to pay separate tuition fee, examination fee, special fees, one time fee and refundable caution fee as prescribed.
