Burdwan University Distance Education: Admission will begin soon at Burdwan University for the July session 2026. The registration form will be made available online on the university website. The registration fee for PG courses is INR 500/- (INR 200/- for students of other universities) only. Currently, Burdwan University distance education offers only MA, MBA and B.Ed programs in ODL mode.

Applicants must have a relevant bachelor’s degree from a recognised university to become eligible for admission. Selection of the applicants will be based on the fulfilment of the eligibility set by the university for each course. Burdwan University distance education annual program fee ranges from INR 8000/- to INR 40,000/-. Submission of the application form must be done before the expected deadline which is 30th April 2026*, to avoid a late fee of INR 500/-.

Burdwan University was established in 1960. It began as a state university with 6 PG departments and 30 affiliated colleges. Currently, It is 2nd largest state university in west bengal with 316.31 acres’ campus. Now it has 39 PG Departments and 74 Affiliated colleges. The university offers diverse programmes at Diploma, Certificate, Honours, PG, and doctorate level. 

Burdwan University started its Directorate of Distance Education, now the centre of distance and online education in 1994. Now, in distance learning it offers 5 PG, MBA and B.Ed programs.

Burdwan University Distance Education Admission 2026 

Admission at Burdwan University for all the ODL courses will be conducted online only for the July session 2026. Before taking admission, students will be required to create their ABC ID and DEB ID. Applicants have to fill the form of INR 500/- and submit it before the given deadline to avoid late fees. The university offers only PG programs for admission, such as MBA, Bachelor of Education and MA in 5 disciplines. 

A valid bachelor’s degree from a recognized university is mandatory to get admission to Burdwan university distance education. Admission will be merit based for all PG courses, except for MBA programs, where a qualifying score of MAT, CMAT, CAT, XAT is required. Selection will be done through a merit list published by the university and counseling session. Final admission will be provided only when the original document of the applicant is verified and the program fee is paid.

Burdwan University Distance Education PG Admission 2026 

The centre of distance and online education of Burdwan University provides admission to PG courses like MBA, B.Ed and MA in English, Sanskrit, History, Philosophy, and Bengali.  These programs are recognized by the UGC and are offered for the duration of 2 years and 4 semesters. Students must hold a bachelor’s degree in any related field from a recognized university to get admission. The minimum mark required is around 35% to 45% in the qualifying examination. However, it is important for students to fulfill required eligibility criteria. The PG course fee will vary from INR 8000/- to INR 40,000/- annually. The main medium of instruction and study material will be English only for all the programs, excluding the language courses. 

Burdwan University Distance Education Eligibility Criteria 

Students applying to any PG degree course at Burdwan University distance education have to meet with the following eligibility criteria:

  • For MA Program: Graduate with a 3 year bachelor’s degree with at least 35% to 45% mark from a recognised university. 
  • For MBA Program: Minimum Graduate degree of 10+2+3 pattern from a recognized university and pass the written test like MAT/CMAT/CAT/XAT/other recognised management exams. 
  • For B.Ed Program: Individuals who are Trained In-Service teachers in elementary education, or completed an NCTE recognised Teacher Education Programme through face-to-face mode can apply for admission. 
  • Medium: English will be the only medium of instruction, except for language courses. 
  • Relaxation: For SC/ST/PWD and other categories as per Central Govt./State Govt. rule. 

Burdwan University Distance Education Admission Process 

Before initiating the registration process, applicants are advised to read the instruction carefully and read out the eligibility criteria. Submission of the form must be made before the deadline to avoid late fine and incomplete form will be treated as canceled. Follow the steps given below for successful registration:

Step1: Create ABC ID AND DEB ID. 

Step 2: Email and mobile number of the student will be added by default.

Step 3: After filling the online form, user ID and password will be generated. 

Step 4: Login with the credential and fill the admission form with personal and academic details. 

Step 5: Pay online application fee of INR 500/- via credit/debit card, net banking, UPI or OR code. 

Step 6: Now, relogin and upload colour passport size photograph, photograph and ABC-ID card.

Step 7: After uploading a document, take a printout of the application form submitted. 

Step 8: Visit the CDOE Administrative Office, BU or respective Study Centre for verification of original documents, along with fee receipt and application form. 

Step 9: Admission will be finalized after the payment of the program fee only.

Burdwan University Distance Education Fees

The CDOE of Burdwan University charges program fees ranging between INR 8000/- to INR 40,000/- per year. Students have to pay an examination fee of INR 1000/- per year for MA program and INR 2000/- for MBA and B.Ed program. Students have to pay their fee online using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI/QR Code. students have to take a printout of the online fee receipt.
